This was a way too long blog posting I made on August 13, 2012. The post explores the role of ideology in the discipline of economics, bouncing off of ideas proposed by Mark Thoma, Paul Krugman, and other bloggers, in light of the current crisis and the inability of mainstream economics, and in particular freshwater economists, to foresee the crisis and offer appropriate policy prescriptions.
